If you're using your Google Business Profile (GBP) as a location asset in a Google Ads campaign, you might be wondering how to know which phone calls were from your location asset in Google Ads. By default, Google use your normal primary GBP number which makes it impossible to know which calls are ads.
BUT... there's a little "hidden" feature in Google Business Profile that allows you to dynamically replace your usual primary phone number with your own tracking number when your Business Profile appears as an Ad on Google Search or Maps, helping you avoid any of those missed conversions.
Here's where to find it:
Go to business.google.com/, sign in and select your Google Business Profile.
In the Menu (3 vertical dots), choose Business Profile settings.
Click Advanced Settings.
Scroll to Google Ads phone number and enter your Google Ads extension phone number from Liine, then click Save.
How to create a location extension in Google Ads (if not already done)
After you create your tracking number and update Google Business Profile, you must add the Location Extension in Google Ads.
Sign in to Google Ads and select the account.
Select Campaigns, under Assets, choose Assets.
Under Associations, choose Locations.
Select the + icon, and then choose Location asset.
Search for a Google Business Profile account or link to an account associated with your Google Ads account.
Follow the wizard to finalize your location extension.
